THE ART OF SPIRITUAL WRITING

a six week writing workshop with Lodro Rinzler

for anyone attempting to communicate their authentic experience

workshop begins this September

You have some truth in your heart that you know will help people and you want to get it on page and out to people...but how?

Let’s do it together.

Over six weeks together you and 9 other colleagues will study the art of spiritual writing with Lodro Rinzler, who has been creating spiritual writing for major publications for the last 15 years.

In his late twenties Lodro’s first book, The Buddha Walks into a Bar, went on to sell over 100,000 copies and be translated into fifteen languages internationally. His subsequent books won awards and continue to sell well to this day. Yet above and beyond sales, Lodro's writing has helped people. Through sharing his understanding of Buddhism and meditation he has left an indelible mark on hundreds of thousands of people, whether it be through his books, his long-running Huffington Post column, his shorter work for everyone from The New York Times to Well + Good or his popular substack The Laundry, Lodro continues to speak about his writing across the world at conferences, universities, and businesses as diverse as Google, Harvard University and the White House.

This is the first time he is opening up his process as part of a writer's workshop.

A note about the timing: this course will begin in the second week of September and run for 6 weeks - the exact time and day of the week will be mutually agreed upon by the group of participants by August 1st, determined through online polling.

If it occurs that you cannot make the live meetups you will be given an option to attend via recording or have a refund.

Topics include:

  • What makes for compelling spiritual writing? (Hint: it's sharing authentically from your lived experience)

  • How to structure spiritual writing: Lodro's secret technique that he applies to most of his work

  • Honoring the traditions we come from while making them accessible in new ways

  • The fine line between sharing and over-sharing

  • Finding the right tone - the expert vs the newcomer and finding your balance in sharing what you know authentically without coming across like a know-it-all

  • Hurdles in the spiritual writing process - writer's block…but also grappling with the trap of doubt

  • The power of story, images and traditional analogies and more

  • How to create a book proposal and get it out there

Over the six weeks each participant will be invited to share a piece of their writing with the group and have it lovingly critiqued by Lodro and other participants so as to strengthen your work overall
