He is the author of seven meditation books including The Buddha Walks into a Bar and the brand-new Take Back Your Mind: Buddhist Advice for Anxious Times and the co-founder of MNDFL meditation studios in New York City.
His books Walk Like a Buddha and The Buddha Walks into the Office have both received Independent Publisher Book Awards.
Lodro has taught meditation for 23 years in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition and travels frequently for his books, having spoken across the world at conferences, universities, and businesses as diverse as Google, Harvard University and the White House.
Lodro Rinzler is based in the Hudson Valley of NY where he lives with his wife Adreanna Limbach, daughter Ruby and their four-legged family of animals.
LEADING UP TO NOW…
1980s - 1990s
Grew up in NYC in a Buddhist household and began meditating at 6 years-old.
Was given the name Lodro by Dzigar Kongtrul Rinpoche.
Started sitting long retreats as a teenager, including a silent month-long monastic retreat.
2000s
Encouraged by his mentors at 18 to pursue a teacher training program and began offering intro meditation instruction afterward.
Founded Buddhist House at Wesleyan University.
Recruited after college to be the Executive Director of Boston’s largest meditation center.
Began leading workshops at meditation centers and college campuses throughout the United States.
2010s
Doubled down on the vision of making meditation as accessible as possible.
Wrote a handful of books. Some were given awards.
Co-founded MNDFL Meditation studios in NYC.
Launched Buddhist Immersion and Teacher Training programs (for those who similarly want to make meditation accessible).
Married a wonderful woman who also happens to be a fantastic meditation teacher.
2020s
Moved 2 hours north of NYC to the Hudson Valley and discovered the joy of the farmer’s market.
Published Take Back Your Mind.
Leading meditation retreats on his land.
